This week’s Members Monday is Sandra! She has been a committed member for quite some time now and has gone through a huge transformation! We are so so proud of her and happy to have her constant high energy and willingness to learn. She is consistent and puts her best foot forward daily to achieve her goals – most even doing “two-a-days” you can’t beat this type of work ethic and attitude! Read below to check out her story!

Was there anything specific you thought you couldn’t do physically bc of actual disabilities or bc you thought you couldn’t that you overcame?

“YES! All of it! I had exercise induced asthma since the 6th grade. Other than cheerleading I never played sports or worked out. I never even considered it. I had absolutely no interest.”

Why do you love crossfit and what it does for you mentally / physically etc?

“I love Crossfit because it challenges me both mentally and physically. I get bored easily, but with CrossFit there’s so much to learn it’s almost impossible to be bored.”

How is being an “average working American” in Crossfit affect your everyday life and mindset?

“Working out is a permanent part of my life. I’ve had many neurological issues since 2009. I know without a doubt my health would have deteriorated quickly if I wasn’t doing what I do. It’s my way to own and control my body. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but today I chose to be healthy and working out is part of that package.”

How’d you hear about crossfit and how’d you end up at Yankee CrossFit / when did you start here?

“I had friends who did Crossfit for years but the way they described it just didn’t appeal to me. It wasn’t until my daughter joined and I witnessed for myself how encouraging and friendly everyone was that I decided to join myself.”

Why yankee vs other gyms/why do you love Yankee Crossfit?

“Other gyms don’t compare to Crossfit. There is no such thing as a “community” at local gyms. I worked out for 2 years before joining Yankee. I never experienced the motivation and support I experienced here.”

What has been the best thing that’s happened to you because of CrossFit or how has crossfit helped you do something that you couldn’t have done without it

“The SNATCH!!! Holy moly that thing was the death of me. I never even knew what a snatch was until Crossfit and even with the struggles I’ve had with mobility and injuries I’m super proud of how far I’ve come just in this particular movement. The mind and body connection is a powerful tool.”
